Fanmix: Our hearts beat as one
Medium: General
Subject: Heartbeats
Title: Our hearts beat as one
Warnings: image heavy; some graphic imagery, but nothing too gruesome
Notes: 17 track of a wide variety of genres – there's folk, there's Neue Deutsche Härte, punk, R&B, some really cheesy pop... The one thing that ties 'em all together: heartbeats. Whether it's a barely noticable sound in the background or the basis for the entiry song, there's the (steady/frantic/heavy/slow) beating of hearts or the bleeping of heart monitors in each and every one of them.
The reason I made this mix is that I love the sound of heartbeats. There's something comforting in it, a primal feeling, knowing you're alive and it's something that ties us all together. "Though we may come from different countries and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one." (Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

+ BONUS TRACK

Plus as a bonus, a very special mystery track not included in the zip.

It turns out this song, with its 103 beats per minute, has the best rhythm for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR. Studies have shown that doing CPR with this track in mind results in not only performing it almost perfectly, but also being able to remember how to do so 5 weeks later.

Can you guess which one it is? :)

Oh, I'm definitely downloading this. I adore the sound/rhythm of heartbeats in music (I also find it oddly soothing) but I've been hard pressed to find anything other than Placebo's 'Running Up That Hill'.
